![]() The lack of EVF is the biggest issue to work as a still camera, at least for me, I would prefer an EVF or at least a solution to attach a good EVF in the future which I assume will happen eventually, the system architecture is flexible enough for that anyway. The modular approach is quite good, IMHO, will be adopted by other manufacturers in the foreseeable future. The camera has a very nice built quality, it looks similar to a brick and feels like one. The eye-focus works well for portraiture so it is a good camera for still portraiture. ![]() The autofocus for still is not particularly fast but for a photographer of reasonable experience, I do not believe it is a limiting factor. Sigma fp + Leica Summicron-M 35/2 ASPH, Koi fishes, Bangkok, Thailand Sigma fp + Sigma 45/2.8 C - from a corner at the Bangkok Railway Station Sigma fp is a very interesting camera more similar to the RED camera concept but it is more suitable to use both motions and still capture - which it takes beautiful still images. Has anyone, tested or bought this camera ? How is it in use with or without the external "long" evf. But i did find a very positive and long review on Steve Huff's blog/site saying that this camera was great for stills and with beter IQ than the original Leica Q and Cl. I have been looking those past weeks for an FP review but regarding the photo aspect. Presumably since Panasonic “proved” that you could have a body with built in evf that was no larger in practical terms than the same body with only lcd and inbuilt flash unit.īut in the end what made Sigma different? The Foveon sensor? (That can take still images if you must).ĭisregarding the undoubted class act in making the fp we really have a style of camera body whose popularity seems to have faded - the lcd only body with clip on evf. The way that the fp is “accessoried-up” screams - “look at me - I am a video camera”. Most other cameras in the fp size bracket actually have a built in evf. ![]() Maybe an fv with inbuilt evf might try and emulate the GM5?īut in any case the GM1/5 were truly tiny cameras whereas the fp is just very compact for a camera with FF sensor. See our general disclaimer for more information. For some reason there have been very few reviews so far, but isn't in basically the S1 sensor and mount in a body quite similar to the GM1? Like the GM1 one, it lacks an EVF as well as IBIS, and where the GM1 has a quite limited mechanical shutter, the fp has none at all.
